Agatha Christie-Death on the Nile
The book that I chose to write about is called Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie.
The story tells about a girl called Linnet Ridgway, who appears to have everything, but Linnet also has enemies. When she is found dead on a ship in Egypt, when everyone has a motive to kill her, everyone is suspicious.
To be honest, I didn’t like the end of this story, I like stories with a happy ending and in this story the ending was pretty sad.
My own end for this story is making simon the only killer of Linnet, without involving Jacqueline.
I loved Jacqueline very much and felt she was the only honest and true character. I was disappointed to find out at the end of the story that she participated in the death of Linnet.
In my opinion, These are the 6 best events in the story:
1.when Jackie asked for Linnet to employ Simon- I think, that in this point of the story everything started, this is the start moment that change Linnet's, Jackie's and Simon's life.
2. when Jackie met Linnet and Simon for the first time in Egypt- that’s the moment that we are, the readers understand that something happened between Linnet and Simon.
3.Jackie get drunk and shoot's Simon's leg-at this point of the story, Jackie is no longer the main suspect, she has an alibi. This part of the story turns out to be a planned move of Jackie and Simon.
4. Linnet found dead in her cabin. This is the most important event. The story is built on this point, from now on the continue of the story is about to find the murder.
5. Simon and Jackie turn out to be the Linnet killer's. I had to read this part twice to believe what I was reading. This is kind of the end of the story. The mystery has been solved.
6. The story could end when Simon and Jackie turn out to be Linnet killers but one last thing happened after that, Jackie shoots herself with poirot's pistol. I think that this part is one of the crazy, but also sad part of the story. I really liked Jackie, even after she Found as Linnet's killer, and I didn’t want to see her dead.
My favorite character is Jacqueline de Bellefort. At the beginning of the story I felt like she is the only honest character, she fought for her true love, and gave everything for Simon. Even after its found out as a completely fake I still believe that she did this for love and better life in the future, I don’t Justifies what she did but I do understand what was behind it.
